My book printer states that black is printing as four-colour. My preflight report on Rich Black issues, shows no problems. How do I create the PDF so that there are no four-colour blacks on any digital printer?

I am using Adobe X Pro. Here is my process for creating a final manuscript that goes to the printer.

1. Word documents (.docx) files are Exported to Adobe PDF. (There is no visible way to change the Export settings from MS Word to Adobe).

2. All PDF files are put together using Adobe Acrobat X Pro.

3. The final full-length manuscript is saved as a PostScript file.

4. Opening the Post Script file with these settings:  PDFx:1a (2003) with these specifics on Color:

Color Handling - Acrobat Color Management

Color Profile - Working CMYK: U.S. Web Coated (SWOP) v2

          Output Color: Composite CMYK.

5. After the Post Script file has been opened, I run a pre-flight report, looking specifically at Rich Black issues. There are on issues.

The issue is with the printer who states that their machine rejects my file due to black printing as four-color.

Is there any way I can change my font color settings so that they all print in 0C, 0M, 0Y, 1K, consistently with any digital printer?

Thank you all in advance!
