I am using Adobe X Standard, Version 10.1.15 on a Windows 7 machine. I am unable to print. When I select print, I am immediately presented with an error message, and I can not access any print menus because of this message. My only choice is to close the message. The message is:
"Before you can perform print-related tasks such as page setup printing a document, you need to install a printer."
This is especially annoying because I have various printers installed. Some printers are at my house, others at my office. They all work fine, and I routinely print to them from various applications, including Office and even a "free" PDF creator I have installed. It's only the full featured standard Adobe Acrobat X that can not print.
I have researched this issues and seen various "solutions" that don't really work for me. I have changed my default printer to various printers. I have uninstalled and reinstalled printers (a waste of time). I have even completely uninstalled and reinstalled Acrobat X. I also found a patch program on Adobe's website that someone claimed fixed a similar issue for them, but for me appeared to have no effect. None of these steps has worked.
I don't like that this software is crippled in this fashion. After all, isn't printing a document considered very basic functionality these days? And, isn't Adobe supposedly a company with great expertise in the handling of documents?
I can open PDF files in PDF24, which is a free downloadable PDF creation product. From PDF24, I can print to any of my printers effortlessly. So why can't I print from Adobe Acrobat X?
Thanks for any helpful and new advice.
