We created a datasheet in Illustrator CC. Saved to PDF (Acrobat pro Xl CC, save as optimized). PDF is about 2.8 mb. File can be printed in our offices on low end brothers printer and our production printer. The customer who has Acrobat Pro 9 can look at the file but they can't print it. I tried saving it as Acrobat 9 version. That did not help
More Details:
The file was an illustrator cc file 2 pages. Mostly vectors created in Illustrator and and 5 - jpgs that were then saved in photoshop after being sized to what we needed in the illustrator document. (One raster is 3in by 2in, the others all 1.5 by 1.5 in). All rasters were placed into the illustrator file. Within Ily raster is set to 72ppi. No save embeded pdf used when saving the illy file in ai format. When Illy file was saved as pdf (small document size opton was used ). The pdf was then optimized in Pro Xl with no embedded fonts etc.. The pdf was about 15mb coming out of illustrator and was 2.7 after optimizing in Acrobat Pro Xl.
On our side we have printed the file from a windows 8 and windows 7 environment. The windows 8 environment is printing to a brother MFC-J471ODW - just a small office printer from a Lenovo laptop with 8mb Ram 2.80 i-5 3360 processor. Windows 7 environment is printing to a high end production machine but I don't have any more details on that machine yet (separate office). I will have to get more details from our client on their end. I do know they said that opening the file took a long time and didn't print at all and that they sent it to someone who had a "higher" end machine in the office (running cad etc) and they had the same issue. When I tried to explain that our file was relatively small they said it was huge compared to other pdfs they get in from vendors. Tried to explain why other pdf's maybe smaller. I realize this is probably a computer/printer problem on their end since we can print fine in our offices but I want to make sure I have done everythign on our side to investigate and ensure it really isn't our problem.
