Acrobat DC frequently won't print

I have Acrobat DC Standard and it doesn't seem to like the PDFs from one of our applications.  When attempting to print you get nothing. On the Print dialog both the Properties button and the Advanced button do nothing when it won't print. If you close Acrobat and restart the print spooler it is then possible to print and those two buttons function normally. This sometimes happens even after saving the document to the desktop and opening it from there. However, it is possible to print that desktop document using another pdf reader. That prints consistently, every time.
