Double-sided print job won't print. Epson WF 3620 preset settings are set to print double-sided and do work.

I recently purchased an Epson WF 3620 and have enjoyed using it thus far.  One of its features is double-sided printing.  It is one of the presets that have worked flawlessly along with all other features of the printer.

Earlier today, I created a PDF document from an article on the web using an app called Clean Print.  I wanted to print it out for reading purposes later and wanted it to print out using the preset double-sided print feature.  With the document visable in Adobe Acrobat Reader DC, I clicked the print icon and, unfortunately, the double-sided feature didn't work.  I attempted it again and have looked at every option on the printer window but it appears that Adobe Acrobat Reader DC and Epson aren't playing nicely with each other???  This feature works well as I said but not with Adobe Acrobat Reader DC.   All applications, OS X software, printer software, etc are updated.

Does anyone have any recommendations for solving this problem?

Thank you for your assistance!

How to print a booklet at 100%

How can I print a booklet at 100%? When I print a booklet from Acrobat, it shrinks it slightly, about 5% or so (which I guessing is scale to fit). But I need the booklet printed at exactly 100%. Is this possible?

I have every version of Acrobat from version 9 all the way up to DC, so I can use whichever one that will get the job done. I am on a mac.

Preflight report question

We are ready to submit a book but are seeing an issue that has never shown up before.

Seeing nothing in Indesign files or anything else that should be giving us any problem

Pre-flight report reads:

Uses CID Type 2 font (2028) matches

Five of us are scratching our heads.  Have used CC Indesign 2017 and Adobe 2017 for the preflight.

Any thoughts/help/advice or ignore this?

Resolving printing problems with Yosemite and Acrobat Pro 10

Recently upgrading my MacBook Pro OS to Yosemite I find that I cannot print pdf files within Acrobat Pro 10.  Acrobat seems to be printing fine but only blank pages come out of the printer.  All other applications print normally including pdf files opened in Preview.  I don't think it is an issue with my Fujitsu scanner or with my Brother HL 5470DW printer.  My Acrobat is up to date, the printer has the latest firmware, and the MacBook has the latest printer driver.

Does anyone have a fix for this?

How to convert a PDF's Process Black to spot color

$

We have been asked to build InDesign templates for a two-PMS-color math book. The design calls for two PMS colors: a dark blue for most text and red highlights.

Because our Math plug-in doesn't work easily with PMS colors (it defaults to Process black), we hope to create all the “blue” text in Process Black. The press PDFs will have two inks: Process Black and PMS red. On press they will print the black plate in our blue PMS color.

This plan works on press, but for non-press use, we also want the PDFs to visually match the blue and red printed book. Ideally we would convert the Black Process ink to a blue spot but I'm not sure if this can be done.

Question 1: Does anyone know of a way to convert Process Black in a PDF to a spot color? Pitstop can convert spot to process, but we want the reverse.

Question 2 (which I may also post in the InDesign forum) Do you know of a way to redefine (or alias?) the indesign black swatch so that it functions as a spot color?

The "Poster" function option is disabled or greyed out. What's the fix?

I have a PDF that is at 8x11.  I want to enlarge and print across multiple pages (4 pages by 4 pages) but the Poster button is greyed out and won't let me select it.  I've even tried enlarging the page size but that doesn't fix the issue.

Black Streak Has Returned

I run Adobe Acrobat DC.   I had a problem with black streaks when printing PDF files to an HP Office JetPro 6978 after an update to Windows 10 Anniversary.. I found a work around using a registry edit.  I did the edit and the problem was resolved. Just two days ago A Windows 10 critical update was applied to my system and the problem has returned. I found an answer that said a fix had been applied to Adobe Acrobat to correct this problem. I opened Acrobat and checked for updates and got a message there were none available. I printed the same file successfully from my laptop using Adobe Acrobat. Where do I go from here?

After converting a .pdf to a .jpeg last night, now all .pdfs to be printed go to Adobe, not physical printer. ,

Last night I needed to send a .pdf as a .jpeg.  I played around w/ both my scanner and Adobe until I figured out how to convert the .pdf to a ,jpeg.  Today, all .pdfs are going to Adobe and I can't figure out how to send anything to my regular printer.  (I have returned my scanner to its correct settings to create .pdfs so the problem is not with the scanner.  Plus, these .pdfs that are going to Adobe are coming from many sources, not from my scanner.)  Please help me figure out how to reconfigure Adobe so .pdfs can be physically printed.

When I print pages to a HP Laserjet 5L, It prints part of a page, then get yellow error light on printer, press button on printer, then prints the rest of the page on a new form.   Usually gets 905 down the page, before it stops, then continue to rest of page. I have printer set to Portrait, and nothing fancy. This happens regardless of who created the pdf

Error flags in preflight

Recently we queried about scaling down an 8.5 X 11 color file (book) to 8 X 10

The scaling worked perfectly. We checked this from every angle properties, preflight etc, no problem.

Today as I was (not Jeff) trying to upload files to printer, I had to merge two final files together.

One done by layout person and one by me.

Did not know then that hers were saved as PDF/X-3:2002, mine as PDF/X-1a:2001 (both noted for Ingram/Spark upload.)

Each of these files before and after scaling down showed no flags or warnings.

Only after merging them did I get red flags and error messages.

As I began to merge I got:

Merged document will no longer comply with ISO 15930 PDFX

After re-combining I scaled the entire document down to 8 X 10. Here is the preflight image of what I got of scaled version.

I have re-combined the files in multiple ways and tries and continue to get these to messages.

I am about to re-pdf the entire book but wondering if there is a large problem I am missing or something I need to address and if so, how?

The two settings provided by Lightning Source/Ingram Spark do not appear to be Acrobat 5.0

And is the compressed object stream issue coming from scaling down? But somehow didn't show before?

Printing Issue - PDF files

I have had Acrobat for some years without any problems.

However I now have a problem with printing PDF files.

When I try to print as normal I get a message that printing is not possible as no pages are selected.

The normal default is to "Print All" which should work and if I try to tell it to print specific pages this option cannot be selected

although I can get "Other Options" and tell it to print the selected view.

Sometimes I do manage to print a PDF file but then it will revert back to the issue above.

I use a PC with Microsoft Office Home and Business 2013 and an HP Envy 5640 printer.

Does any know where the problem lies? With the computer, printer or Adobe?

Adobe Acrobat Pro 9.1.0 distiller ICC profile error asks for reinstall

I have Windows XP professional, SP3.

My Systems Administrator recently upgraded my Adobe Acrobat Pro 8 to 9.1.0 and since then I keep getting an error that says: Distiller cannot find its standard ICC profiles. Please reinstall Adobe Acrobat to correct this problem.

This error happens when:

1. I print to Adobe from a web page (IE 7.0.5730.11 or Mozilla Firefox 2.0.0.20)

2. I try to print to any printer from certain websites, such as the usps.com, where I print all our postage labels from.

3. Occasionally when I start up the PC.

Sometimes I get the error but it still pdfs the page. Usually, though, it hangs and then Acrobat and the web browser close.

I seem to be able to pdf MS Office 2007 items (Word, Excel) and my Filemaker Pro Advanced 10 records. I guess it's when I'm "printing" to Adobe as opposed to "saving as pdf" that I have this problem.

Acrobat 8 worked fine. My Sys Admin has reinstalled the upgrade twice (after trying a repair which didn't work) to no avail. He can't find any documentation about this error at Adobe, so he's going to uninstall it and switch me back to Adobe 8.

I do all of the pdf'ing of our deliverable documents at my company and I would like to have the latest edition of Acrobat. If anyone knows of anything I can do, please let me know.

Thanks!
Stephie

printing multiple documents in single pdf on double sided printer

What is the best way to print a PDF document with a large number of documents so that the start of a successive document does not end up printing on the back page of the prior document? Each document has a cover page and could be used as a "key", but not sure how to set that "cover page" as the key which could then be used to instruct the printer to start on a new page - almost as if a new print job??

"Flattening" takes too long when printing

The solutions that I have found seem to involve recreating the PDF.  I am not the author.  Is there anything that can be done to sidestep this flattening?  If possible, without a saving-as to a new file because the original document is part of an email attachment that I want to keep as-is for documentation purposes.  But if I have to save-as, that's better than waiting half the day for the flattening.

Afternote: Saving as small/compressed PDF doesn't help either.  This is frustrating.  PDFs have established themselves as robust read-only documents, but to not be able to print....I long for the simple days.

Optimize The PDF For Fast Web View

Am wondering: is there any difference in quality when "Optimize The PDF For Fast Web View" is  UNtagged?

I know the files may be bigger when this option is untagged, but that aside.

If, in day to day use, there is hardly/or no visible quality difference what is the use of this option?

Thanks
