I want to print in black and white only, not gray. The print dialog box do not have the box to choose black and white. Only box with gray. How to do it?

The Acrobat Pro 9 that I installed previously, can tick and print black and white. When changed to Acrobat DC, the function gone.

"Flattening" takes too long when printing

The solutions that I have found seem to involve recreating the PDF.  I am not the author.  Is there anything that can be done to sidestep this flattening?  If possible, without a saving-as to a new file because the original document is part of an email attachment that I want to keep as-is for documentation purposes.  But if I have to save-as, that's better than waiting half the day for the flattening.

Afternote: Saving as small/compressed PDF doesn't help either.  This is frustrating.  PDFs have established themselves as robust read-only documents, but to not be able to print....I long for the simple days.

before you can perform print related tasks...

I am using Adobe X Standard, Version 10.1.15 on a Windows 7 machine. I am unable to print. When I select print, I am immediately presented with an error message, and I can not access any print menus because of this message. My only choice is to close the message. The message is:

"Before you can perform print-related tasks such as page setup printing a document, you need to install a printer."

This is especially annoying because I have various printers installed. Some printers are at my house, others at my office. They all work fine, and I routinely print to them from various applications, including Office and even a "free" PDF creator I have installed. It's only the full featured standard Adobe Acrobat X that can not print.

I have researched this issues and seen various "solutions" that don't really work for me. I have changed my default printer to various printers. I have uninstalled and reinstalled printers (a waste of time). I have even completely uninstalled and reinstalled Acrobat X. I also found a patch program on Adobe's website that someone claimed fixed a similar issue for them, but for me appeared to have no effect. None of these steps has worked.

I don't like that this software is crippled in this fashion. After all, isn't printing a document considered very basic functionality these days? And, isn't Adobe supposedly a company with great expertise in the handling of documents?

I can open PDF files in PDF24, which is a free downloadable PDF creation product. From PDF24, I can print to any of my printers effortlessly. So why can't I print from Adobe Acrobat X?

Thanks for any helpful and new advice.

Set Default Print Setup

Okay, you see how Paper Size says Legal?

Print Setup.jpg

I want to find out how to make it default to Letter because sometimes something will print, say from e-mail, as a PDF & I don't get the option to change it. And, frankly, sometimes I just wanna click Print & OK & be done with it.

And, yes, I've gone into Printer Properties a zillion times to make sure it's set to Letter there:

On screen images in pdf are fuzzy and pixelated

Hi folks,

I create docs in Framemaker and even word. I use at least 200 dpi images, both jpg and png. I print to Adobe PDF and use Press Quality. The images on screen are fiuzzy and sometimes breakdown in odd pixelated ways. They always print fine, but the target for these docs is to use on screen.

I have tied EVERY setting I can find in WOrd, Frame and Acrobat and no luck.

What could I be doing wrong?

printing multiple documents in single pdf on double sided printer

What is the best way to print a PDF document with a large number of documents so that the start of a successive document does not end up printing on the back page of the prior document? Each document has a cover page and could be used as a "key", but not sure how to set that "cover page" as the key which could then be used to instruct the printer to start on a new page - almost as if a new print job??

Conversion from word to pdf with png figures results in dark, saturated figures

Hi all, I urgently need help with this issue!

I have a word doc full of very crisp 600 dpi CMYK png figures that print perfectly as I intended from MS Word, and I'm trying to use the Acrobat Pro DC Word plugin to convert to pdf.  The png's were rendered in illustrator.

(Seemingly) no matter the settings, I get images that are a fair bit darker and color saturated than I intended, and it looks particularly bad when printed.  They are also a bit pixelly and less crisp than the original png's when zoomed in on, but this is less of an issue.

I have tried "press quality" conversion from the plugin but it's not very smooth.  I removed any compression or downsampling, and it looks better, but then I get the dark color issue (I also don't understand why it's clearly been downsampled despite my settings). I have tried changing all the settings in preferences>convert to pdf> png to lossless.  In the color settings it says "leave color unchanged," and I have tried a few I have tried a few "document rendering intents" with no luck.  I have tried to ensure from within word that I am not compressing figures as I save.  I have tried from Word 2007+Acrobat Pro DC as well as word 2010+Acrobat X.

Thanks for any suggestions!

Acrobat Pro XI Mac won't print a .pdf file, but Apple Preview will print correctly

Hello,

I have Acrobat Pro XI for Mac.  recently I've run into pdf files that will show the document on screen ok, show up on print preview screen ok, but when I send it to a printer I either get:

1.  no printout... the document passes through the printer queue ok, but nothing comes out (no blank paper, nothing).  no data seems to even reach the printer/print server.  no error.  the print job basically vanishes into thin air like the job was never sent

2.  prints out with all the characters of a text substituted with squares (again, no error. just prints squares instead of text)

But when I print the same document using Apple's Preview program on the same machine, the file prints out fine.

I experience this problem with two different Macs, with two different OS versions.  Again both machines will print the .pdf file fine using Apple Preview, but not with Acrobat Pro XI.

I've searched for this problem, but no one seems to have this problem. I've tried just printing one page, etc., and no difference (won't print, or print wrong using Acrobat, but prints fine using Preview)

the files are typically sent via e-mail from a vendor, or a web downloaded form (invoice, forms filled out.  some are secure, some are not).  and these are from multiple sources.

Any ideas what might be the problem, and how to fix this?

system:

Mac Pro (early 2008) and MacBook Pro (mid-2011)

MacOS 10.8.4 and 10.6.8 (multiple computers have this same problem)

Acrobat Pro XI, 11.0.04

printer: HP LaserJet 5MP (yes.. old.. but it works) via HP JetDirect + print server on  LAN

Adobe PDF Printer crashes when pasting in the filename field

Greetings, first off there is no similar problem with any freeware pdf printers so I want to rule out my system config as being the culprit. This only happens in Adobe PDF.

How to reproduce the problem? Have something in your clipboard and try to paste it into the filename field when printing the file as a pdf - you should have now crashed whatever you were trying to print and the program behind it.

Please make a fix for this, it is ridiculous that I have to install a second, freeware, pdf printer because thousand dollar software is not working properly. And I have lost tons of receipts and work this way.

I have a PDF that is at 8x11.  I want to enlarge and print across multiple pages (4 pages by 4 pages) but the Poster button is greyed out and won't let me select it.  I've even tried enlarging the page size but that doesn't fix the issue.

Opening a PDF in Acrobat DC works fine. When printing in Acrobat, though, the print preview (and the actual print) are blank.  I have been opening the file in Acrobat Reader DC and can print normally from there.  Really, really annoying.
