HUGE BUG printing Booklet from Acrobat Pro 11.0.10

I spent an hour chatting with Adobe support in India. They could not solve this issue.

I submitted a BUG REPORT at Adobe - Feature Request/Bug Report Form

Here is the BUG Report:

******BUG******

Concise problem statement:

Steps to reproduce bug:

1. Export individual pages from InDesign as pdf (16-page booklet, each individual page is 5-1/2" x 8-1/2")

2. Open pdf in Acrobat Pro 11.0.10

3. Choose actual size, then choose booklet, and print. (printer contains letter-size paper, and page set-up is set to 100% scale.)

Results: The printed booklet is the WRONG SIZE! The pagination is correct as usual, but each individual page is being REDUCED, and now each page image is too small, and there is now a GAP between pages, and the entire booklet is useless. If you can, please see case number: 0186447426: support chat: it covers everything we have tried so far ... (We tried everything they could think of, but all attempts failed.) This bug was introduced somewhere along the line with Yosemite.

Expected results: As usual, when printing booklets from Acrobat Pro, we expect the print to be the right size, the same size as the InDesign doc, and as it has been printed previously by Acrobat Pro prior to Yosemite. Thanks for fixing this disaster of a bug. Please contact me if you need further info, copies of the individual page pdf, etc.

I am literally stuck. I can go through the laborious process of using InDesign to "print booklet" to a postscript file and use Distiller to make the booklet pdf, but under Yosemite, I am prevented from installing print drivers unless that printer is locally available on my network. Unfortunately, the printer is located at my client's place of business.

I realize there is typically a leap-frog effect between operating system updates, hardware, and application updates, but combined with other Yosemite issues, this Acrobat Pro bug is killing my business.

Document could not be printed - no pages selected

I attempted to print a range of pages of a pdf document. Acrobat says the document could not be printed because there were no pages selected to print. This was not true. I was able to print a range of pages from Apple Preview, so that means the file is OK. Therefore, Acrobat Pro has a bug. I am using Yosemite on my iMac, with Acrobat XI.

Stop printing multiple pages on one sheet

When printing from Acrobat or Reader, the print preview and settings show that I am printing a single page on one sheet of paper. However, it actually prints two pages side-by-side on one sheet of paper. How would I stop this? This is the only program that does this. I have checked all printing settings in all Adobe products as well as the printer settings in the device's properties. Your help is greatly appreciated.

Opening a PDF in Acrobat DC works fine. When printing in Acrobat, though, the print preview (and the actual print) are blank.  I have been opening the file in Acrobat Reader DC and can print normally from there.  Really, really annoying.

Can I change option for Consolidating Duplicate Fonts?

I work for a textbook publisher. Our materials are constantly be proofed, updated, and repurposed. Several of the titles are over 1,000 pages. We are experiencing very significant hangups when it comes to "Consolidating Duplicate Fonts" when we replace the initial page of these documents, and then again when we need to do a "Save As." Sometimes this process can take upwards of 45 minutes. This has created a production nightmare without any resolution I can find to the problem. Is there anything we can do to speed up or bypass this process without bloating the file sizes or degrading press-ready compatibility?

Unable to print pdfs on Mac OS X Sierra

Hi, since I updated my Mac from OS X El Capitan to Sierra, I'm facing several problems. One is, that can't print PDFs anymore (other file types o.k.). I get the message:

Gestoppt "Filter" fehlgeschlagen

What kind of "Filter" is the system talking about?

Anyway, I thought maybe reinstalling Acrobat Reader would help, but that won't work either. In the middle ion "Paketskripte ausführen" it tells me:

Derzeit wird eine Instanz von Adobe Reader ausgeführt. Schließen Sie die Anwendung für alle Benutzer und wiederholen Sie den Vorgang

To what "instanz" is the system referring and what "Anwendung" should I close.

I'm completely stuck. Can you help? Thanks a lot, Mojo

How to convert a PDF's Process Black to spot color

$

We have been asked to build InDesign templates for a two-PMS-color math book. The design calls for two PMS colors: a dark blue for most text and red highlights.

Because our Math plug-in doesn't work easily with PMS colors (it defaults to Process black), we hope to create all the “blue” text in Process Black. The press PDFs will have two inks: Process Black and PMS red. On press they will print the black plate in our blue PMS color.

This plan works on press, but for non-press use, we also want the PDFs to visually match the blue and red printed book. Ideally we would convert the Black Process ink to a blue spot but I'm not sure if this can be done.

Question 1: Does anyone know of a way to convert Process Black in a PDF to a spot color? Pitstop can convert spot to process, but we want the reverse.

Question 2 (which I may also post in the InDesign forum) Do you know of a way to redefine (or alias?) the indesign black swatch so that it functions as a spot color?

Document could not be printed from Adobe DC

I recently started to have an issue with printing from Adobe DC and receiving two errors. First pop up is "The document could not be printed" followed by " There were no pages selected to print". Changing from the default printer to a second printer corrected the issue and the document printed. If I change back to the original default printer it fails again. If I login as a different user everything works printing to the original default printer. This means that it is tied to the user profile. Any suggestions from support to fixed without uninstalling and reinstalling?

Printing PDF is slow with 64-bit

We recently "upgraded" to Vista 64 and installed Acrobat 9 Pro. Since then, pdf files print extremely slow on my HP Business Inkjet 2800. It takes a full 2 or 3 minutes to reach the printer, which is local, then it makes one pass, stops for about 30 seconds, and makes the next pass. At first I thought it was a printer issue, but I just tried printing a pdf from Acrobat Reader and everything was fine. The settings, as far as I can see, as the same in both programs. I'm using the PS driver on the printer. I can use the reader to print, but it's a pain creating a file in one program and having to load another just to print it.

Anybody run into this?

How to print a booklet at 100%

How can I print a booklet at 100%? When I print a booklet from Acrobat, it shrinks it slightly, about 5% or so (which I guessing is scale to fit). But I need the booklet printed at exactly 100%. Is this possible?

I have every version of Acrobat from version 9 all the way up to DC, so I can use whichever one that will get the job done. I am on a mac.

How to set Auto Portrait/Landscape as default

Hello all,

My organization uses Adobe Reader 10.1.2. I am trying to figure out how to set up Adobe Reader to automatically select "Auto portrait/landscape" option in the printing screen when an item is printed from within Adobe Reader.

As of now, when I go to Print a file, it automatically selects "Portrait" (or whatever the default orientation is for the default printer).  I would like for "Auto portrait/landscape" to come up as the default selected option when printing.

Can anyone help with this? Thank you in advance!

Adobe PDF driver

After the Creative Cloud updated to Acrobat DC, I am no longer able to print to Adobe PDF.  It says the printer driver is not installed on the computer.  When I go to install the driver it says I only have versions 8.5.0.0 and 8.6.0.0.  I know these are not current.  So what is the current driver and where do I find it?  I am running windows 7 on a 64bit machine.  I use the adobe pdf driver to print postscript to a device that requires it.  My primary business is offset printing.  Any help on resolving this issue would be greatly appreciated.
